Damiani Wine Cellars is excited to present the exhibition of woodcut prints by local artist
Pamela Rozelle Drix. Drix’s work is often spontaneous, responsive to the moment, and
relies on an intuitive response to the landscapes. Drix’s series “Cassandra’s Dilemma
and The Orchid” speaks to the unique and diverse even flow of the colors and shapes
fashioned within the prints. The orchid represents both the literal example of biodiversity,
and a metaphor for the fragile, complex, beautiful, delicate, unique, but incredibly
prolific life form. With an open attitude, Drix discovers new ways of developing images
through print.
Drix received her BA from Kalamazoo and her MA from The State University of New
York at Oswego. She has received numerous grants and awards for her artistic projects
and has had her work in collections and exhibitions in the Dominican Republic, Japan
and Vermont. Currently Drix is an adjunct professor of printmaking at Ithaca College,
President and co-founder of The Ink Shop Printmaking Center in Ithaca, NY and a
designer for Vector Art Technologies in Burdett, NY.
An artist reception will be held at Damiani Wine Cellars on December 9th from 5:30-
7:30. This event is free and opened to the public. A selection of Damiani wines will be
available to taste and purchase by the glass or bottle during the event.
A small tapas-style spread will be available for guests.

We invite our wine club members to join us for a free vertical tasting of 5 years of Damiani Meritage releases. We’ll begin the tasting with the 2004, our inaugural vintage, and finish with the newly-released 2009. Reservations are required for this wine club exclusive, and only two tickets per member are currently available.

“True to the ambitious Damiani style, this wine has tightly packed fruit tones with a generous overlay of vanilla and mocha from toasty new oak. Intoxicating flavors of caramelized pineapple and boysenberry frame the dense palate while refined tannins provide a counterbalance to the dense fruit. The finish is moderately long and slightly drying, winding up with a chocolate note. Best 2011–2013″. Wine Enthusiast (5/1/2010)

“This is nicely ripe, with a mix of black cherry and currant fruit held together by integrated toast. There’s a nice lingering coffee hint on the mineral-tinged finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc”. Wine Spectator

2008 Meritage:

Shades of graphite and forest floor add subtle nuance to the layers of blackbery fruit on this concentrated, elegant Meritage. Rich in flavor yet lean in profile with a bright, clean acidity, it finishes on a graham cracker and chocolate note.  Wine Enthusiast (10/1/2011)

Szabo and Hart share a passion for telling the stories they find in the
landscape. In her wood sculpture Szabo compares the processes that shape the
earth to human behavior. Hart follows the patterns revealed in his landscape
prints through the geologic and human histories that created them.
